Marianne: Wonderbar!

Let's take a momentary break from Fashion! and talk about my skin. I used to have nice skin, you guys. And then I got knocked up, and ever since, it's been just sad.

I have tried a million different creams and serums and finally stopped using anything other than Dove Sensitive Skin soap. This actually improved things, but my formally nice skin still looks like this:
YOU GUYS, I JUST PUT THAT PICTURE ON THE INTERNET.
THIS ONE TOO! Please to be ignoring the super hot strap of my industrial German nursing bra.
Anyway. My skin, it's not good y'all. And to be honest, I am starting to feel pretty desperate about the whole thing. This desperation is probably why I spent $40 on the world's tiniest bar of soap.
People, this is the Wonderbar. It's made from herbs and spices and fancy clay. And according to the internet, who I tend to believe about this stuff, it is going to make my skin nice again.

You use the Wonderbar on clean, dry skin, so I washed off my make-up with my usual Dove Sensitive Skin soap. Then I lathered up the Wonderbar:
And massaged it on to my dry face.
Lulu was very interested. And I just noticed that she is playing with a box of tampons. Excellent mothering, Marianne! Next I'll let her chew on my razor.
Guess what's weird? Having your picture taken while you are washing your face. Also, hello again, Teutonic Nursing Bra!

I have to admit, after leaving the soap on my skin for the requisite 3 minutes, then rinsing, my skin felt incredible. Soft and smooth other than the, you know, zits. I think I'll take weekly update pictures, just because if I don't justify spending $40 on a hotel bar-sized soap, I won't be able to live with myself. SO! Watch this space for more thrilling pictures of me washing my face! OH SO CAPTIVATING.

  1. If it makes you feel any better, my 4 year old daughter is OBSESSED with tampons. She keeps asking me what they are and I keep having to put her off b/c I am NOT READY to have that conversation with her. LOL!

Also, your nursing bra looks WAY better than mine did. Yours looks kind of shiny and mine was just plain old (very stretched) white cotton!

  2. Hi,
Be careful to not use Dove soap with the Wonderbar. The Wonderbar cannot work if you are using soap on your skin at the same time as the Wonderbar is trying to balance your skin. Hope it works for you!! please email info@wonderbarusa.com if you have any questions!

  3. Oh, good to know. I need to remove make-up, though, is Cetaphil okay to use?

  4. I will stay tuned, as my skin is similarly funky since pregnancy. The one thing I've found that helps (if I remember to do it) is once a week, mixing baking soda with Cetaphil and scrubbing my face, and following that up with plain honey. Whatever blemishes I have are all dried up after honey hangs out on my face for ten minutes or so.

  5. Wow, that really is a small bar of soap!

  6. This is the shop of a friend of mine (and of Adrien's) who makes all-natural face-care products, and you might find that her soaps have the same kinds of ingredients as the wonderbar (which I do keep reading as "wunderbra") for less money.

I'm currently auditioning wrinkle creams, so I am glad to watch your progress as well!

  7. Have you tried cutting out dietary stuff like gluten and dairy? I know- seems drastic, but skin is affected by hormones, and what we eat influences those... AND your hormones change after and during pregnancy, too.

    Yay, hormones!

  8. Hi Marianne,
Cetaphil cleanser is fine to use if you want to take off the makeup beforehand....keep in mind, the Wonderbar is not a soap, and if thought of that way, the size is very disappointing. It is clay and algae and that little tiny things lasts a VERY long time...you'll be surprised. Good luck and keep us posted on your results!!
p.s. i totally agree with anonymous...a little thing like a lactose intolerance can wreak havoc on your face!
