Marianne: Shopping-Free September Halfway Point

Well, here we are on the other side of September 16th, meaning we are well into the second half of the month. Which, to be honest, has sped by me in the blink of an eye.

So, are any of our readers joining Adrien and me in our shopping ban. Adrien is making a truly heroic effort in the face of things that are tempting her in all price ranges. And we're both making serious space in our closets. I am surprisingly okay. More than okay. In fact, other than doing some possible shopping in New York next month (with my Looks Better On You proceedings, of course), I'm thinking about continuing this ban. Maybe allowing thrift, consignment, or eBay purchases.
That's not to say that I'm not obsessively looking at Issa dresses and wondering what body part I could sell to get one.

Sigh.

I'm not ready to make it official; after all, fall is barely here and I haven't had to really pull out my old fall clothes to see how they will work. But I'm kind of an all or nothing kind of girl, and telling myself that I am not shopping any more has been good for me. So far.

We'll see.

  1. I haven't bought a thing except those 2 vintage blazers for $10 total & another GAP one I found w/ tags still on for $3 on another trip.

Yeah, once it gets cooler and I start putting things together, we'll see how the shopping ban goes. It did get me inspired to finally do some tailoring & adjustments on a few things I got at the end of last winter on crazy clearance. Need to hem 2 pairs of pants now.

    Good luck!

  2. That is fantastic, I actually have a couple of things that could benefit from a trip to the tailor. Well done!

  3. I am still doing the GAAD, which means I was allowed to buy a purse, but no clothes. Another 11.5 months to go...

  4. I'm doing the same, by default. I'm currently trying to lose weight and go down one size, while at the same time selling most of my old clothes on ebay. So I've made quite a bit of money, but I'm not interested in buying anything that won't fit me in a few months (hopefully). I have bought a few things on ebay though (does that count?), because they were cheap Anthropologie items, and I've also bought some dirt cheap necklaces on ebay, to spice up the few clothes and outfits I have left in my wardrobe! Hopefully the weather won't change too much in the next month or so, because I have no boots or winter coat...
