Adrien: Are we sick of it yet?

I've worn this dress so many times on the blog you might actually think I really love it. Truthfully, it's not that I think it's super great, it's just that it's easy. A few times I've even worn it with semi-tragic results, so yeah.  Wow. But, I think this works okay. Good belt, gold sandals, a bright cardigan for the office. Done:

It Depends.

M: Whoa.

A: NO.

M: Is that a drop crotch or is she...all smooth down there?

A: Smooth. Like a Barbie. But seriously, is she on drugs?

M: Seal looks concerned. I get the feeling this does not look good from the back (shout out!).

A: What kind of acrobatics would you have to do if you were wearing this and had to pee? It's worrisome on a lot of levels.

M: Maybe she is wearing a diaper!

A: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

M: I am just saying, it would explain a lot.

A: Can we talk about Seal now, and not how her sunglasses look like something she traded in Skee-ball tickets for?

M: Seal is working that t-shirt.

A: He is working every part of everything on his...yeah.

M: I am trying to ignore his gold coin necklaces and bracelets. I mean, he's Seal. And his formerly hot wife is probably wearing a diaper.

A: It is a very sad time for him.

Marianne: Flashy.

Ooh, sorry about the flash glare here. I wasn't going to bother with taking pictures but Chris was right there and so here we go. Kind of a basic outfit, but really comfortable and featuring the last of my consignment spoils, this new with tags J. Crew denim skirt. It's somewhere in between a mini and a pencil skirt an I love it. And yeah, I'm still carrying that bag nonstop and it's breaking in better every day. I love it. It is my sister wife.

Adrien: Heavy.

This was Monday's outfit. Not too complicated and pretty much centered around the weighty ribbon-wrapped chain necklace I just bought (because Nina made me). I like that it adds a little texture to an otherwise really simple outfit. The patterned tote also adds some fun without it all being too overwhelming. I usually require Monday to be slightly underwhelming. It's just better that way.

This top is a few years old and has consistently photographed terribly. I swear it's cuter in person!

And I totally copied Marianne's pedicure:

Neon pink toes are the way, y'all.

Shorty, Take Two.

Alright, first of all, I feel like my original shorts post should have had the following disclaimer:

I just threw the shorts on so I could get an opinion on them! I am not actually styling them! Nor asking for a critique of my outfit because it wasn't really an outfit!

However, I do realize that what we mostly post on this blog are outfits, so it's not really surprising that I got so many suggestions on why mine wasn't working and what I should do to fix it. I can take it! And in retrospect I probably should've posted the shorts in the context of how I'd actually wear them - with a summery top, flat sandals, and a small weekend bag, while contemplating a cat:

Also! I realized the shorts look really great with my green sandals, so I tried that too and I think it looks cute:

Maybe sort of tucked in?

Eh, maybe not.

Does that make more sense? PLEASE OMG SAY YES.

Marianne: Calling a Mulligan.

I've been on a Dress For Success campaign lately but you know what? Sometimes you just need to wear some freaking jeans. And your favorite top and a cardigan because your office is cold and a ponytail and Bah. Bah, I say!

And yeah, a pantsless toddler.
I sewed some rhinestone chain onto a friendship bracelet and it was pretty much really good.

Tube Tops R Awesome.

A: Hello, this is your bag:

M: Why yes, yes it is. That is not, however, my tube top. For the LOVE.

A: I think you should wear a tube top with your bag. Just like in Spain!

M: Don't wanna.

A: DOOO IT. (Pls imagine Mike Birbiglia's friend saying this.)

M: I am instead picturing AB Chao saying DEWIT. But she would never, ever tell me to wear that.

A: Hee! She would not. No.

Beckham Syndrome.

A: This is completely cray-cray but I love it:

A: I covet that Marc Jacobs bag. The little gold frog!

M: I was about to email this to you. It's a bit Red Hat Society but so FUN.

A: Hee, the purple/red combo!

M: They are some fun ladies:

A: I'm sure they are, but I'm a little mad they totally co-opted one of my favorite color combinations.

M: Take back the purple and red! Do it!

A: The last time I wore my red coat with a purple scarf I got made fun off. I AM STILL MAD. And oh my god, that frog bag! I love it so so hard.

M: The frog bag is pretty darn cute. Ooh, it comes in a really nice teal!

A: Victoria Beckham loves it too:

M: And lilac gloves! Red Hats represent!

A: Or...maybe they're a cult like the Scientologists and just quietly trying to recruit us?

M: That's my kind of brainwashing.

A: I have to say, if you're going to recruit me for something, Marc Jacobs and Victoria Beckham is definitely the way to go.

M: Throw in a little Tyler Kitsch and I'll basically rob a bank for you.

A: You want me to do what? And Victoria Beckham will be there? Okay.

M:  "But Tyler, what's a drug mule? Oh, whatever!"

A: "Victoria, that sounds illegal! What? Quilted Little Stam? When do I start?"

M: I am pretty sure I just agreed to give Victoria Beckham both of my kidneys in exchange for eyeliner tips.

A: OMG, MARIANNE. You will look so so so pretty!

M: I know, right? Who needs kidneys?? Well, other than Victoria. I think she is making a face cream out of them.

A: I would totally buy that face cream.

M: Oh, me too. Yup, wearing face cream made out of my own kidneys.

I'm sorry, this just got weird, even for us.

A: Time for a drink, perhaps?

M: Ah, bottle of gin, my old friend. Want a spot under my hobo blanket?

A: As long as there's no harmonica.

Marianne: Sassy, apparently.

It all started on my coffee run. Our power was out (again), so I ran into Starbucks to grab some coffee and when I opened the door, a friend was coming out with her daughter, and she exclaimed, "Oh, you are fancy!"
Then someone called me sassy in the parking garage at work. That word was repeated 5 more times, by different people throughout the day. I was sassy, y'all.

What's so sassy, I ask you? My bet is on the shirt. This shirt is so exuberantly ruffled that I think last time I wore it I said that it felt like it was eating my head. But the color is so wonderful. I've never known quite what to wear it with, but it turns out this navy skirt (bought on consignment for $8) is perfect.

My only quibbles are that both the top...
...and the skirt are a little big. Oh well. Room for pie.
The shoes and my new neon pedicure are pretty sassy too.

I love the little buttons on this skirt.
For those that like my bracelet, I just followed the great DIY here at Honestly...WTF. I am making a different version this weekend, I just love it.
Sorry for the photo-heavy post, but I liked this one! It's been a long time since an outfit garnered this many compliments.

Adrien: Summer Leopard.

I had a work meeting this morning so I wanted to wear something to combat the Sea of Seersucker I knew I'd be facing. I'm pretty sure the opposite of seersucker is leopard, so I went with my old tried-and-true sheath dress:

Drinking Gin in a Ditch.

A: You want texture? I GOT YER TEXTURE RIGHT HERE:

M: I am confused. What season is it? Unless she is in Australia that seems like A LOT of clothes for June.

A: Her legs are...lizardy. Downright lizardy. I think somewhere Joan Jett is missing her pants.

M: I am so tired of these hoof-like platforms. So. Tired. Neigh.

A: I like her bag. It's spiky on the bottom. But that is a lot of texture-y animal skin going on in one outfit.

M: Her legs are distracting me. She's really pretty! Why dress like Godzilla with hooves?

A: I'm also tired of the hooves. And that sweater! It exhausts me just looking at it.

M: That is a Drinking Gin in a Ditch sweater if I've ever seen one.

A: That is actually my favorite place to drink gin! How did you know?

M: Because I am right there with you!

A: I'll scoot over and make room. This ditch has the best view.

M: What's that divine perfume you're wearing? I am catching notes of bus exhaust and just the tiniest note of...is that skunk?

A: It's opossum!

M: How exotic!

A: Actually, I think I'm sitting on an opossum nest. I wish I had some lizard pants - it really helps.

M: I never considered the protective qualities they might have.

A: Useful against ground bees too.

M: Those open toed hooves aren't, though.

A: Are you kidding? They're mad stompy!

M: But your toes are all exposed! No good.

A: That's what the spiky bottom of this bag is for.

M: I am skeptical, but it's your Possum Apocalypse. Possocalypse.

A: Opossocalypse? I like the added O. Fancier. Can you pass the gin?

M: Let me find the bottle in my hobo bag. Here it is, just under my harmonica collection.

A: Ugh, you and your harmonicas.

M: I am jaunty and fancy free!

A: You are also annoying me, Bob Dylan.

M: How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man? What does it all MEAN?

A: GIN PLEASE.

Adrien: Shorty.

I struggle with shorts. I hate buying them because I don't generally like spending much on weekend clothes, but I live in the south so they're a necessity. I have a hard time finding shorts that don't make me feel a) dumpy or b) like my ass is hanging out. There is a fine line!

Last weekend Kate and I did a little torture shopping by hitting the Trifecta of Terrible: bras, swimsuits and shorts. Oh my God, did I need a drink after that. I think I tried on six different pairs of shorts - all which were terrible. Terrible! Laughable.

I'd seen a pair I liked at the Gap, but they didn't have my size:

Plus Pants & Shorts by Gap at ShopStyle

They are a little weird, right? But compelling? So much more fun than my usual sad, neutral choice. And then I saw them on Kendi and wanted them even more. WANT. I finally went back and found a pair in my size and they were on sale, so I bought them. And now I have them. But the question is, should I keep them?

Be honest with me. Am I pulling this off or are they too...something. Young? Shorty-short? (I should note that I'd probably wear them with flat sandals IRL. I was just too lazy to change my shoes for the photo.)

Adrien: Second Verse.

(Need some new summer clothes? Check the shop! New stuff from Marianne! Yay! Carry on!)

I feel like I just wore all this on the blog but you guys don't mind, right? I mean, this shit is real up in here. I bought this skirt because I love it so hard and then I wore it, like, once. Now it's slightly too big but that is just too bad because some days require a leopard print pencil skirt. I'm wearing this with a Gap tee and my favorite new cardigan. Whee.

Marianne: I'm trying.

I have been saying for a while now that I wanted to wear more skirts, and so when I went shopping last week I had a rule: I was only allowed to buy work appropriate skirts and dresses. And with those strictures in place, I walked away with 4 skirts and 2 dresses. The dresses were a cinch to wear, but I'm already faltering with the skirts. This one is my favorite, a really gorgeous tie-dye/ombre Theory skirt. After trying on three previous options I landed on this beige stripe tee, but I'm not convinced this was the way to go. It's a little loose (I bought it to wear with skinny jeans), and maybe the stripes are too much? Help me learn how to wear skirts, people. I am special.

P.S. It's hot as heck, so why not head over to the shop and pick up some new shorts and skirts?

Adrien: Bright.

This is what I changed into after taking photos of my new jeans, so really not that much different. But, I have a new, ridiculously bright cardigan and I've been wearing it with everything. I don't even care if it makes me look like a traffic cone, I love some bright orange-y red.
