Adrien: (There It Is.)

I've worn this BCBG dress on the blog a few times and I like it. It's easy to wear and the pattern is fun. But, it has an issue. A couple issues, actually. First, it has pockets which I really need to have removed because they make the hips pooch out a bit. Not a big deal, but annoying. The bigger (ha) issue is that, while this dress looks fine from the front, the cut of the skirt makes the back view...unfortunate. I'll show you what I mean.

Fine, right?

Then I start to turn and you can maybe see what's happening here:

Whoomp:

There is a weird dead-center pleat  that just makes everything... wider. My solution?

Cardigan! Always.

dress: BCBG (in green)
cardigan: Ann Taylor (similar)
shoes: Frye Iris (similar)
bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs Hillier Hobo

  1. I know you're not panning for "oh, you look so skinny" and whatnot but really, I don't think it looks weird at all without the cardigan. I think it's really flattering and looks great.... from the back.

  2. OMG don't remove something practical over a small perceived flaw. Dresses with pockets are awesome! Both issues are so neglible that if you'd posted these pictures without saying something, I'd never have noticed.

  3. I swear I'm not fishing! It was kind of hard to capture in the photos, but the back of that dress bells out in a pretty exaggerated manner. It's just strange more than anything. I'm standing firm on the pockets - I don't mind them in full skirts but in jersey knits it just ruins the line.

  4. Thank you! People have gotten pockets crazy but they are not for every dress or skirt.

  5. See, it's these kinds of dresses that look awesome on normal-sized people but are way too short for people above 5'8" (yes, me). It's so hard to find anything that hits right at or below my knee. Oh, and you look darn cute...didn't mean to make this all about me :-)
