Anthrotastrophe!

M: REALLY? We don't look silly enough taking pictures of our outfits and putting them on the internet? Someone actually comes up with a Ponzi Scheme? REALLY?

A: Really. Thanks for ruining online blog sales for EVERYONE, dummy.

M: Can you imagine the look on my husband's face if I tried to explain this to him?

A: Ha! I tried to explain to mine last night and the more I talked the worse it got. I think he was waiting for me to stop so he could pack up the car and leave.

M: First of all: Blogs devoted to one store. Lots of 'em. Some of them are even great.

A: Second: Paying a stranger to buy something for you.

M: Third: Letting the stranger drag you along for months (months!) with nothing to show for your money. I hope our readers know that if we ever keep them waiting more than, oh, a week, they have the right to leave us threatening comments, complete with links to photos of Gene Autry.

A: And we would not edit or delete those comments. We are so not that girl.

M: Damn straight. No moderated comments, here! Even when you call my feet scary.

A: However, we might mock your mean comment. FOREVER.

M: I do love to beat a dead horse.

A: IS THE HORSE MUSTARD? I THOUGHT IT WAS OCHRE.

M: NEIGH!

A: I AM SO WRONG. AGAIN.

M: Countdown to another email about jeggings and Roy Rogers in 3...2...1...

  2. oh this made me laugh :) You know, I tried to explain this to my husband too...I am not sure if he was fake-interested, or if he actually was. I am pretending he was.

  3. haha this is much needed!

I linked back to it and hope that is ok. You guys seriously, one bad apple is spoiling a bunch. AND I tried to explain it to Chris (who noticed my obsessive f5'ing and finally caved to ask before bed if I could summarize in 10 words... I did it in 9) and he glazed over after about word 4 and responded with "yawn."

  4. Link back to it all you want! We are happy to bring a little levity to an overall ridiculous and unfortunate situation. You guys are brave to even try to explain it.

  5. Thanks for the link! How did you explain in 9 words? I felt like I had to give a dissertation (on Anthro, personal shopping, etc.) which was...wrong. Yeah.

  6. I said, "Popular blogger uses power to anthro-grift cash and clothes." I admit at first he responded with the confused sideways-headed stare my dog gives to me sometimes. I elaborated a tiny bit and then and only then did he verbalize "yawn."

  7. I had no idea this stuff was happening and I'm still kinda confused... okay so, people would give her $ to get something for her and they never saw it and never got their money back?

  11. Anthro-grift! Jess, that's why you have a PhD and I don't.

Roxy, thanks! You've been a trooper this week.

  13. OMG, I had exactly the same experience trying to explain it to my husband. He was asking what I was reading that could possibly be taking that long, and I tried to explain it. I didn't think he could possibly have less respect for my blog hobby, but yep, it turns out that he could.

  14. While this is a seriously messed up situation and I feel for the women and men who have apparently been defrauded, I admit that I immediately started wondering about her mug shot. Will Illinois officials permit her to pull out her skirt and twirl or will they restrict her to the demure downward glance complete with the "who me" hand to mouth?

  16. Ponzi scheme- I hope anthro names a dress for it sometime soon...

heh...I just made sure to explain the situation and its enormity and only then reveal to the manfriend that I was one of the sorry-ass dupes!

  21. I didn't even bother trying to explain this to my husband... he still doesn't really understand what a fashion blog is, so I know Anthro-blogging would make his brain explode.

Hilarious take on the whole situation.
