I got a lot of great suggestions (and a few that made me raise an eyebrow) on this entry last week about my weird green pencil skirt. Here are a few I really liked:
- pair with brown instead of black (check)
- try with cream, coral, lavender or camel (check)
- wear with a cropped blazer or jacket (check)
- hem the skirt (plan on it)
- wow, great shoes (okay, not about the skirt but it made me happy)
The comment that most cracked me up:
"Also what if you traded that skirt for a more colorful J. Crew Pencil Skirt."Ha! Moving on:
My goal was to not have to buy new stuff so I had to shop my closet a bit. And lo, I found a jacket I'd completely forgotten I owned! I think I bought this four or five years ago and wore it a ton until I just couldn't look at it anymore. I don't think I've worn it in months, but dang, it works, right?
Not so sure about the scarf but it was cold
skirt: Ann Taylor (similar)
top: Gap slub tee
jacket: Gap (similar)
necklace: J Crew starry night locket
boots: Frye Tina (similar)
bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs
scarf: Ann Taylor (similar)
that jacket is ADORABLE
ReplyDeleteSuper super cute combo!
ReplyDeleteI'm just trying to get you to buy the J Crew pencil skirt that I still haven't been able to bring myself to buy ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think the jacket you found is really cute and it's different enough to not look too stuffy. The light color goes well against the darker skirt.
Yay contrast! Love that jacket!
ReplyDeleteLove it with the scarf (as it covers your blue top) and makes the whole outfit look very pulled together!
ReplyDeleteI really like this outfit--the contrast of the jacket looks great with green, and I do prefer the brown boots. Love the scarf too!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the skirt! I have never been a big dark green fan and all of a sudden I'm finding myself SO drawn to it. I even ended up buying a handbag solely because I was so drawn to the color. ( http://www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayProduct.jsp?product=RMIN-WY309&c=Satchels&s=C&d=Handbags ) The photos don't even do her justice (yes, it's a she and I even named her :P). I also bought a scarf to go with my bag. Anyway, since my thoughts glazed over thinking about my bag, let me reel it back in.
ReplyDeleteI think your skirt is beautiful and looks great on you. I think it'd go well with the b&w striped shirts you have. I also think it'd go well with grey, dk. hot pink, dk. teal, cognac...
Also try something like the link below for color combos: http://www.colourlovers.com/palettes/search?sortCol=votes&sortBy=desc&publishedEndDate=01%2F12%2F2012&publishedBeginDate=12%2F27%2F2004&query=hunter+green&userName=&hex=&hueOptions[0]=&hueOptions[1]=&hueOptions[2]=&x=0&y=0
(I put "hunter green" in the search box.)
I have that same jacket which has also sat unworn for years. I guess I need to pull it out and breathe new life into it.
ReplyDeleteCarly, I know! I still want that pencil skirt badly. Wah.
ReplyDelete3:26pm Anonymous, my top photographs as blue but is actually purple.(Which I'm guessing you would still disapprove of, but can't win em all.)
6:10pm Anonymous, that bag is BEAUTIFUL! And thanks for the color combos link, very helpful.
