What would you put on top of this dress? What color? What length? Maybe a knit blazer? And while we're at it, what do you do when your outfit is an accidental disaster and it looks like you maybe wore your bathrobe to work? Hmmmmm?
cardigan: Max Studio (similar here)
dress: Old Navy (similar here)
tights: Spanx
boots: Frye Lisa (similar here)
brass and horn necklace: vintage (not similar, but I love it)
bangle: c/o Mango Tree Bangles
I wonder what that dress would look like with camel colored tights and boots? black and navy is tough.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to tell, but the pattern on the dress is cobalt edged in black.
ReplyDeleteI would do something to brighten it up. Would yellow go well with it? Maybe a yellow cardigan?
ReplyDeleteHonest to god, I think it looks cute and cozy. The orange bangle is adorbs.
ReplyDeleteWhat Lara said. I love the pop of orange and I think you look adorable.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks good just how you have it :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat makes the Cardigan & dress not work is the dress's 3/4 sleeve. I love the curve on the Cardi, it keeps it from looking like a bathrobe.
ReplyDeleteI love tehamy's idea of a yellow cardigan or maybe a mustard one and match it to your favorite shoes?
I actually love this outfit, the combination of shapes, textures and colors, esp. the bangle. So I wouldn't change a thing. It is also possible that you see something that's not reflected in the photo.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I am just as critical of myself when I dress; why we do this to ourselves??
I agree with others who say this outfit looks cute. The cardigan provides a color-blocking situation that breaks up the print of the dress and creates a flattering shape. I also agree with the poster who said it's the 3/4-length sleeves that may be making you feel like this look isn't working. I think this is a great outfit, but I can see that perhaps full-length sleeves would make it even better.
