Marianne: Context Clues

I bought this silk Anna Sui for anthropologie top on eBay, and I love it even though it's kind of shapeless, the design looks a bit like an alien is trying to escape my torso, and the sleeves have a "lunchlady arm" effect. And yet! I still love it.
Lu is really mastering her poses.
I tried to get a good detail shot, but it was dark and we had to use the flash and everything looks kind of sickly and shiny below. You'll have to trust that it's a pretty top. Lots of fancy details that make it look expensive.
Flash photography is not your friend.
It's been unseasonably warm, but I just can't go out in December without a jacket on. It feels wrong, okay?

top: Anna Sui for anthropologie, via eBay (another wildly patterned Anna Sui top here and similar vibe for less here)
jeans: Paige Union Maternity Jegging** (on sale! these are THE BEST EVER)
jacket: Doki Geki (fancy similar here and on sale similar here)
bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs Mag Bag (under $100 similar here and under $30 similar here)

**you catch that?

    1. Congratulations to you! I am sick with the worlds nastiest sinus infection right now, which is trumping all pregnancy symptoms.

  2. Yay! I thought the clue might have been the alien trying to escape your torso. I look forward to seeing maternity fashions on zee blog.

  6. Congrats, Marianne! I (like Christy — hi!) am also 19 weeks pregnant with my first. Yay, spring babies! Can you recommend any maternity looks that are a little less expensive than those jeggings? I'm on more of an Old Navy budget.

    1. Oh, congratulations Mollee!! That's great news. Now, you aren't going to like this, but maternity jeans are my one splurge. I am tall and I wear jeans every week to work, so it's worth it to me to have something that fits well and is long enough. That said, once I found a brand that fit me well (Paige, which is funny because their non-maternity jeans are not my favorite), I was able to find the styles I wanted (one skinny, one straight leg) on eBay for about a quarter the retail price. And most of my other maternity stuff is definitely on a budget, so stick around for more outfit ideas!

  11. Sheesh, I really am late to the party here, but I'll add another *happy dance* and Congratulations to you and the other mamas-to-be. I am expecting twins in May, so I too need more maternity clothes ideas. Preferably ones that won't bankrupt me, because apparently I will be needing to buy clothes frequently since I will be so much bigger this time. ACK! Can't wait.
