Marianne: Maternity Shoppy.

I have been in denial. I really don't want to buy any more maternity clothes, but when I tried on all of my spring/summer options this weekend (most of them generously loaned or handed down), I realized that a lot of what I have either doesn't fit or is looking a bit long in the tooth. I have some work-related appearances to make and I need a few new tops to get me through the last couple of months of being pregnant. Help me please?

Let's start with Old Navy. What do we think about this chevron-stripe top?

This embroidered-yoke top from Old Navy is kind of summery and nice and the color is Superhero Blue, which makes me laugh because I am 30+ weeks pregnant and the opposite of a superhero. OR AM I?

I like the idea of this Old Navy maternity maxi skirt, but maybe I am getting ridiculous with the stripes at this point? Or maybe I would love this and wear it all summer after the baby comes.

On to the Gap! I do not need more dresses but oh, I think the print on this A-Line Drape Front maternity dress is just so cute:

But anyway, tops, I need tops. I think Gap is kind of overpriced for what you get, but that said I would happily wear either of these pretty printed tops. Which do you like more, the tie-front tunic or the printed pintuck top?

Moving on! Target? I never even look at Target any more, I find their stuff ill-fitting in general. After looking and looking I found exactly one top I kind of like, this Merona Lace-Sleeved deal:

Eh. Whatever.

Last stop, Asos. I've had good luck there so far and I think they have the best prices for the quality. I may just have to buy this double scallop top:

I think I'd look ridiculous in this check print t-shirt, but the print is adorable, isn't it?

Bird prints are kind of done to death, and yet I like this graphic swallow print top:

Lastly, I like the idea of lace sleeves. My arms are feeling meaty lately and this would give me the coverage I crave without making me roast come June:

What do you guys think? I know maternity shopping is not really appealing to everyone, but help a girl out, would you?

  1. I love the chevron top, the maxi skirt, the Gap dress and printed pintuck top. The lace sleeves...not so much, but I'm not a lace kinda girl.

  2. Ok, that double scallop top is just too adorable. You must buy it!
There is no such thing as too many stripes so you should get the skirt and the chevron top too!

  3. I farking love the chevron thingy - I'm having a real hankering for a chevron anything although preferably in muted colours (oh so picky). I think chevron would look GREAT on a pregnant belly. Also like striped maxi. I like stripes but they look a bit odd on me so I live vicariously through others - go for it.

  7. The Gap tie-front tunic really looks like those "designer" scrubs to me. Much prefer the other Gap option.

  9. ASOS wins hands down... the green and white tops are adorable and work appropriate. Don't do the chevron - saying this as a fellow preggo woman; the chevron stripes put way too more emphasis on my belly than I'd like and just seem to pull me down. The Gap printed pintuck top is quite nice too

    1. Yeah, I can see that with the chevron for sure.

  10. First of all, yes, you ARE a superhero.

Moving on, I vote for the printed pintuck top and the double scallop top, as long as you promise to belt them. Also, I've found this site to be a good source for maternity tops: http://www.pinkblushmaternity.com/

  11. Old Navy maternity maxi skirts are THE BEST when you're pregnant in the hot months, and they work well post-partum as well. No tight waistband + no need to attempt to shave your legs = third trimester happiness.

  12. Not sure if you're aware but Ann Taylor loft had maternity online only options. I came across this in my late pregnancy. They have stuff on sale as well and usually have really good sale codes. Hope this helps!
