Beauty Reviews: Fresh Sugar Cherry, Marc Jacobs Highliner, Some Other Crap.

Hey, I made a Sephora order recently and I though it would be fun to break it all down and review all the stuff I got. Here's the lot:

I bought:

- Fresh Sugar lip treatment in Cherry. I don't know why I decided on this new color instead of my beloved plum. I mean, I like plum! It works for me! Why did I fall for the new? I didn't like Cherry at all to the point that I went to the store in the creepy mall and returned it. $22.50 is way too much money for lip stuff and way WAY too much money for lip stuff you don't like. The color was obnoxious on me and I didn't think it felt as silky and moisturizing as the plum color. I don't know, maybe you will adore it but it didn't work for me.

- Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Ransom that I told you all was a steal on sale for $6. If you miss out on this don't come crying to me. Go git it. I have reviewed these liners here and here and they are good times as long as you avoid the chunky glitter colors.

- Bumble and bumble Straight. I reviewed this already and I still like and use it even though it smells like a dude. What can you do? Bumble has my hair number and won't stop drunk-dialing me. I like the attention.

- Benefit Fakeup. Hahaha, no review for you! Just kidding, we're both going to review this in a separate post. This was a total fakeup. Get it? I just fired myself, don't worry.

Okay, that's what I bought and the rest of that shit is samples. I know, right? That's the way to do it with Sephora - do not order until there are good samples to be had and also use eBates for 2.5% back (my referral link) because why wouldn't you? Also, take advantage of the Beauty Insider program to earn points towards deluxe samples. I don't know, I just do what they tell me to. So, samples! I got:

- Marc Jacobs Highliner. I saw the new Marc Jacobs line in the store and wanted to buy all of it just because it's SO PRETTY. Seriously, its some of the nicest packaging I've ever seen ever. Check out the Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer:

OooOoooh. I don't even buy nail polish and I want that. Anyway, I got a mini version of the Highliner, which is just black gel eyeliner in a slightly-awkward-to-hold size. I don't usually wear black liner but this stuff is pretty nice. It glides right on just like gel liner should. It was black. Also, free. I was not displeased.

- Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder. This was a deluxe sample that I got with a code. I am pretty happy with it though I'm not sure the color is the right match. I am not generally one for powder foundations but this gives nice coverage for an end of the day touch-up or minimal coverage when brushed over bare skin for a little polish. It can be used wet or dry but I've only tried it dry so clearly I'm the worst product reviewer ever. Woo.

- Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I'm wearing this on my face right now! I generally do not love slathering my face with silicone but it seems to be doing the trick, as my foundation is still where I left it on my face.

- First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. I've tried two of these and so far nothing about my face is radiant but I'm going to keep going. I'll let you know if anything significant happens.

- Bumble and bumble Gentle Shampoo. It's fine, it smells good, it gets your hair clean. I save it for travel.

- Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (too! many! words!) I actually already own this product so I'll probably be throwing this sample in with the next Pile 'O Samples giveaway. It's nice foundation though slightly too drying for the winter months.

That's it! Have you bought any beauty products that were great (or awful) lately? Do tell.

    1. Absolutely. You can pretty much return anything to Sephora.

  2. Anyone have recommendations for an extremely gentle moisturizer?
I recently had a horrible allergic reaction to a L'Oreal moisturizer (we're talking major swelling and redness and peeling- Quasimodo city) and have been uber-sensitive to moisturizers since. I need help!

    1. This might be better answered by Marianne, but I use CeraVe moisturizer and like it a lot. It doesn't have any weird stuff in it and is very gentle.

    2. I'm also using Cerave, and it's okay but I know it's not going to be enough this winter. In winter I splurge on Bobbi Brown Extra Moisturizing Balm and I love it. It's very soothing.

  3. I'm obsessed with straightening creams like the BB Straight. I also like Moroccan Oil Hydrating Styling Cream.

The thought has recently occurred to me that I need to wear lip liner or some kind of lip base. I swear I reapply my lip gloss like a hundred times a day. But I don't want to look early 90s. Any recommendations? Sorry if you've already posted on this subject.

    1. I never, ever use lipliner. I just hate the way it looks! But, I believe there are clear versions, which might help as a kind of base. UD makes one: http://www.sephora.com/24-7-glide-on-lip-pencil-P219001
