Review: Road Holland Cycling Apparel.

So, here's the thing. I work out a lot and I'm a competitive mountain biker. (Did you guys know this about me? Fancy, right?) I don't know if you guys have experienced this but most workout clothing for women is ill-designed garbage. Like, that Stella McCartney line of workout clothing? Is a joke. Girl does not work out in that stuff. And even brands I like make weird crap that makes me want to eat glass. (Like, WTF is this? NO. REALLY. WHAT.)

Cycling gear is no better. It's either be-flowered crap or men's stuff they've relabeled for women with elastic in bad places. If you are any kind of cyclist you know what I'm talking about. I'm on my bike enough that I'm willing to pay really good money for proper cycling attire that fits me correctly and performs the way it's supposed to without riding up or cutting me in half. There are a few companies doing it right and one of them is a cycling apparel company with local ties called Road Holland. I recently bought a long-sleeved women's jersey from them and this is what I've been looking for, right here, you guys. It's like they went down a checklist I created in my mind.

The Harlingen

Adrien's Super Specific Checklist for Bike Jersey Awesomeness:
  • Stylish but simple design
  • Available in black
  • Designed to fit a woman's body
  • Functional and well-made
  • Cool details (zip pocket, bright contrast trim, grippy hem)
  • Manufactured in the USA

I've worn it on my bike, to the gym, and as a layer under my jacket on a motorcycle ride. I love that it doesn't scream BIKE JERSEY but still functions like a good jersey should. And it fits perfectly. Did I mention that? The women's jerseys are cut to fit actual women's bodies - flattering and comfortable.

Road Holland isn't inexpensive but their products are beautifully made and worth every penny. Plus, they run promotions all the time. Today you can get 15% off with code SWEET15! (Use it to buy the new jacket they just posted. I cry because I WANT.)

PS. I wasn't compensated in any way for this review. I just like promoting local companies who make great stuff.

  1. Thank you for this post! I am a bicycle commuter and occasional causal roadie and it drives me bonkers that if I want something functionally made for riding a bicycle, as a woman I have about 6 things to choose from, each bullshittified in its own way with pink or flowers, so I end up choosing jerseys or something made for men, which never fit right because, boobs.

  2. I have a similar jersey from Road Holland that is at least 2 years old. I echo your comments about style, comfort, fit, and can add durability to the mix. I machine wash and air dry, and mine still looks like new. I ride in it and also use it for apres race attire. Love, love, LOVE my Road Holland jersey. It is worth every penny.

    1. Andrea, I've been thinking about this! I wasn't sure if it would be something people are interested in, but I might do it anyway.

  5. HALLELUJAH!!! I've recently been complaining a lot about women's fitness gear. If it fits the girls, it won't fit the hips. If it fits the hips, its 3 sized too big for the girls. I already own I RH jersey and I'm awaiting the second one. Its completely maddening.
