Back in October I posted an entry about my fall wish list. I was really trying to make an attempt to focus on what I actually needed instead of buying a bunch of random crap, which is usually how I roll. Winter clothes are more expensive but they also tend to last longer, so I wanted to buy things that I wouldn't hate by March. So, how did I do?
1. Black Skinny Jeans
I bought this pair which, while not exactly what I'd originally had in mind, have turned out to be a really solid purchase. They're comfortable, warm, and the perfect length to wear with flats. I wear them a ton.
2. Simple Grey Sweater
I did, in fact, buy the exact sweater I posted about, the J.Crew Tippi. It was a good purchase for fall and spring, but the 3/4 sleeves makes it not so great when it's really cold. I wish they made a l/s version! I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
3. Bold Statement Necklace
I had kind of failed on this one but recently bought the J.Crew necklace I featured on a "Weekend Window Shopping" post. I will be posting a review tomorrow!
4. Black Sheath Dress
Total fail. I bought the Banana Republic dress I'd posted about and then ended up returning it because it fell in a weird place between day/evening wear. It just couldn't decide what it wanted to be. I did buy a little embellished black dress from BR that ended up being great, so that's my black dress for now.
5. Crazy Print Scarf
I bought my favorite print scarf during my trip to California and it's been a solid purchase. It's Calvin Klein and was only $15! It's not online, but this CK scarf looks perfect for spring.
6. Zip Pocket Shift Dress
The zip pocket shift was ordered and returned. Just not for me. I think the best dress I bought this season was the ponte striped dress from BR. Much easier to wear! It's sold out, but this new version is really cute.
7. Leopard Flats
I bought the Madewell flats I'd been mooning over and they are everything that leopard flats should be. True love.
8. Striped Sweater
I still do not own the super-dreamy striped Comme Des Garçons sweater of my dreams because that jank never goes on sale EVER EVER. Ugh. Love. NEED. WAH.
So, did you make a wish list that you tried to stick with or was it a free-for-all? Do tell.
This post makes me want to approach my shopping this way for the spring.
ReplyDeleteAlso, for a black dress, check out Dobbin Clothing. I bought the "Juliet" dress in black last year (on sale). I have worn it probably once a week since, except for the very hottest weather. Very well made, nicely structured, and the ponte is thick and comfy.
Will do, thanks!
DeleteI have that Tippi sweater in 3 or 4 colors and I love it! But yes, I freeze my butt off in it some days.
ReplyDeleteI have been salivating over that same Comme Des Garcons sweater from J. Crew too and it will never go on sale bgaw!
Lastly, I just recently purchases 3 work dresses from Boden (first-time customer) and I am in LOVE. Now if it would just warm up enough so I can wear tights without dying of hypothermia.
Ooh, which dresses? I just ordered one from Boden too and I am hoping it'll be perfect.
