Lazy Beauty Reviews: Stuff I Ordered From Sephora.

A few weeks ago Sephora had it's big VIB 20% off sale and I spent way too much time trying to figure out what to buy, like that is some kind of amazing discount. I mean, yeah, 20% is pretty lame but it's so rare that Sephora gives you any kind of discount that I lose perspective. I did place a decently hefty order, mostly to restock products I already use: Sunday Riley Juno oil and Bumble and bumble Straight Blow Dry. Good stuff. I also had a ton of points so I got a bunch of free crap that I'll tell you about in another entry. Exciting, I know.

But! I want to tell you about a few of the new things I bought. For blog science. First, I decided to stray from my beloved Benetint and try something new, as recommended by Kim France:

Perricone MD No Blush Blush. I've only used it once but it does indeed give your cheeks a very natural pinky-peach blush. It goes on really smoothly and doesn't look like makeup but I can't report back on it's staying power as yet. So far I'm happy with it and a little goes a long way so I expect it'll last for a while.

Next I finally sucked it up and bought a bottle of the Burberry Fresh Glow:

I had a deluxe sample of this (reviewed here) and absolutely loved it but it's expensive so I decided to wait until I could get it at a discount. It works as a primer and as a mix-in and it gives a lovely glow without making you look like a sparkly disco ball vampire. Also, the packaging is INTENSE. It's like a little architectural sculpture for your bathroom. So fancy.

Finally, I bought some holiday scented candles by NEST:

I got the Birchwood Pine and the Holiday votives and they both smell amazing. This is high praise from me because I am super, super picky about scented things. (I'm currently very annoyed because one of my neighbors has passively-aggressively made the entire apartment building smell like poison cookies with one of those rancid plug-in oil thingys. She plugged it in the outlet outside her front door. What even.)

ANYWAY, I am picky about candles and scented things and these NEST candles totally pass my test with flying colors. The Birchwood Pine smells like a Christmas tree and the Holiday candle just smells like HOLIDAY. It's all fruit and spice and a bit of vanilla. The votives come in very cute ornament packaging and would indeed make great gifts.  Oh, and Saks has a really nice set of all the NEST holiday candles in votive size! That looks so nice. Dammit.

  1. Oooh, they had Nest candles at a local pop-up shop and I loved the smell but couldn't pull the trigger.

Also, outside her front door? You're well within your rights to trash it.

    1. Yes, there's an outlet in the hallway right outside her door. It might have to disappear.
