Anyway, I have come out the other end of those nine years feeling like a completely different person and now I don't really try, I just post what I'm wearing and what I like. Obviously I post the outfits I'm most happy with but they aren't always interesting or groundbreaking. Y'all don't care, right? Maybe you do. I don't know and I'm a little afraid to ask. Anyway, today's outfit is just what I wore earlier in the week and I feel okay about it:
From the top, I'm wearing a J.Crew striped boatneck shirt that I like, but it seems to be sold out in the navy stripe. Also, it's getting pilled, which is irritating. But, this more structured version seems like it would hold up better and there's always Everlane who can be depended on to make a decent striped tee. And Boden! They know a thing or two about striped tees. Always room for one more, I say.
Now, I don't know that I have you all convinced about the excellence of the Athleta Chelsea Cargo pant but I now have a second pair in army green (via Poshmark) and I freaking love them. Light as air, super comfy and cut just right. This particular color isn't available anymore but they do have an interesting blue. Just check them out, you might be surprised. If not, maybe these more structured cargo pants from Madewell? So cute! I also like this Sanctuary pair and this pair at Anthro ain't bad either.
I've started tucking in my shirt (at least in the front) because it really does make things look more pulled together and hey, I have a waist! Who knew. Details:
I'm wearing my old fishhook necklace from Giles & Brother and my Lisa Freede hinge bracelet that I haven't worn in ages. This one is similar but much cooler, or you could go with a Giles & Brother bangle.
You look AMAZING.

DeleteSince you asked, I like that you share outfits you truly like! The ones that work, that make you feel great, that you actually wear and repeat. I dislike blogs dripping with outfits that clearly never left the house, you know?
ReplyDeleteWhat, you mean you don't wear an off-the-shoulder dress and stilettos to go get ice cream with your kids?
DeleteYour blog has a clear voice, funny and true, so keep doing whatever you want with it!
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan! Thanks, lady.
DeleteI havent been following along for 9 years but damn near. Im still reading. I love the cut & paste chats with Marianne. Also - That dress you linked to was great.
ReplyDeleteI still have that dress! It's pretty worn out but I still wear it occasionally.
DeleteI've been following a long time, but probably missed the first year-ish? I remember that post that you referenced, but that blast from the past had me going back to the VERY beginning of your blog to see what I missed. Really, what has kept me reading over the years is the cheeky humor and the hilarious interaction between the two of you. Fashion too, but mostly it's you guys.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks so much! You are definitely one of our long-timers.
DeleteYou look so happy! Yay for wearing what you want. Love your style and your voice. Marianne's, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI actually bought that dress in your old post (way back then) because of you! I still love your outfits but it's mostly your real-life personality and funny posts that keep me following!
ReplyDeleteI hope you loved that dress as much as I did!
DeleteI love your blog and it's the first thing I read when I am home from work and able to chill for a few minutes. Will just echo many others that your sense of humor and voice and style are all awesome and for the love of god please keep it going!
ReplyDeleteHahaha NO PRESSURE. But seriously, thank you for reading!
DeletePosting to say that this blog is one of the (very) few I check in with anymore. I really enjoy your posts, your outfits, and your recs. Keep doing what you're doing!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love your blog! It is healthy for me to visit vs unhealthy Instagram.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I'm really happy to hear that.
