Outfit of the Day: Something Old, Something I Should Return.

Today I'm wearing what is probably my favorite summer dress and it's an old one from Loft. I wish they'd make this exact dress in other good patterns and colors because it's just so comfortable and reasonably flattering:

I also love the print, which feels kinda 60s-vintage to me. I'm having trouble finding anything really similar! I was hoping this dress would be similar but it's just got a tie-waist, not elastic so the fit isn't right. Maybe this one? That's pretty cute. This one at Anthro also has a similar vibe and this one from Target has potential!

I ruined up the whole thing with my J.Crew chambray shirt which is basically a cardigan now. This is the current version which is good but wait for a sale! You could also get the Levis version which is pretty damn good looking. I am just saying.  On to details:

Again, with another terrible picture of my giant head as I try to show you my earrings. They're labradorite drops by Panacea and I can't find my exact pair, but how cute is this version?  Nordstrom Rack has a ton of Panacea jewelry dirt cheap right now. My necklace is House of Harlow and it's this one (but mine is black.)

Y'all sick of the Miu Miu bag yet? It's all I've carried since I got it and I have no regrets. My clog sandals are Lotta From Stockholm peep toes and they're always fun to wear and cheaper than Swedish Hasbeens.

Okay, now to play a game I call: I Should Return This, Right?

This is the amusingly named Rain Drop Jacket from Athleta. I loved everything about it until I read the reviews and found out it's not even remotely waterproof. It fits well and has great details, like a cinched waist, deep zip pockets, sleeves that flip up to reflective material and a two-way zipper. And oh, that cute pleat in the back:

I KNOW RIGHT. I bought this when it was an extra 20% off the current sale price but it still wasn't cheap. Sooooo, I should definitely return it. Definitely. I really should return this dumb rain jacket that does not repel rain. Right?

  1. I mean, if you don't have a long, lightweight black jacket, you could keep it?? But not if it cost more than $60?? I don't know your life though

    1. It was more than $60. If it had been super cheap, I'd totally keep it.

  2. If it helps, I'm not keen on that very shiny zipper? A rain jacket should repel water, or it's just a windbreaker.

  3. The product description even says "water-repellent" and some reviews saw it protected them from rain. Hmm. Maybe test it?

  4. Return it. There are other, better jackets. Dang that dress is still great, tho!

  5. Good morning,
Zipper makes it look cheap. I am a bit of a fancy pants, have Burberry to GAP. I went around Paris in the rain for 10 days in this Costco jacket, everyone asked if I got in Paris. You could go through the car wash in it. Charcoal is dark. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kirkland-Signature-Ladies-Trench-Rain-Jacket-Color-Size-Variety-NWT/323692401028?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4b5d921184:m:m9ZBvq1Nz9XHLteL258IcNA:sc:USPSPriority!95062!US!-1&enc=AQADAAAB4KX%2FKt4E1xf3SDqEdBclaYaOJjd31iuWexaPxlketRBur2KEDip3vHUDZdw2O3bSMZzWEbliTVMcVsPVLlJgEKxIYqZt8CXOlZjMwZjYfQEpMR%2FiQXQLlLnuhR3tmf%2BEyGWCrorqsovoPqGsMlpne4Pdmi3KMoQQV%2B5i1c7Dc3j%2BiJzL2V%2FmhMa5cj8d7NZl%2Fwnqe5KpZKKqw8pPS9d1t0QPGBByFd5BG2s6n4s0e%2B5ipcz8Z4o3qCfXDs%2BabVBW309GttEE5mlQeQkAKpexBbrYYlkO%2FDOjD7KoTi9yJU0JfQJC1eKLM3lyMrNUFlO7Xnx6HVaLAI5JHdV2XVPMpxCThO%2F5sZ37YZqeyAbhbjBoFMQiW4X%2B%2FSTVvIuLr9NdUl42lk4NfFqS5b7BsQA%2BFF2lG1%2Fu3XbcSFCHVlXOc3Y4u%2BfTG5ivfeuRYrW4mDXkPj5xwPAtL6rrh6VJduUf4LH%2Bcxe8V5c40IYtNvTRxzogQ84W2zLlg%2FpG89jxDuLtsRjhmQgVbQroQP8TlCpcxQ2K4q2LrFNqVnnHYnf9SNAr8e8FC3tZ378HH2%2B4pCq16WIe5YAX1mRFIN1AMRWgbWNO9FtAvOJcyq7L1MzkemikU3%2FbXhyIQ5E8WvQ57Tw3eQ%3D%3D&checksum=323692401028ac8c170e119f4261a1d50f75aa4dc229

    1. I returned it (though I kinda loved the shiny silver zipper.) I actually have that Costco trench (http://www.looksgoodfromtheback.com/2018/11/outfit-of-day-this-looks-familiar.html) but really want something more technical, with good, deep pockets that I can layer under. But, it's a good one! I might just end up wearing it instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.
