Wow, yeah. This is a tough week. One thing I started doing mid-pandemic was to try to get a little bit of movement in early. It sets my day up way better than my previous activity of drooling on the couch watching too much news, you know? So every morning I try to do either 30 minutes of yoga or a brisk walk. Lately the walk has been more appealing because nothing calms my anxiety like being outside (in the woods if possible.) It reminds me that the world is a big place and that even when it feels like everything is falling apart, the physical stuff is still here - trees and ground and sky and critters. It helps.
I'm your life coach now! Just kidding. Since I'm trying to embrace fall and winter, I decided that I DO NOT get to opt out of walking just because the temperature has dropped. I'm trying to be very Scandinavian about it all, "there's no bad weather, just bad clothing." Cool cool cool. SO, I got myself a pair of those Athleta reflective Rainier tights because they're both warm and visible (I often walk with my boyfriend after work as well.) They are not inexpensive but y'all? They are GOOD:
I'm usually not a commenter but I need these kinds of posts today, so thank you! It's also a good reminder to keep getting outside--it always helps. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for reading!
DeleteA few months ago I started the same thing, a walk in the morning to delineate home from work. It was a game changer!
ReplyDeleteI have been doing the same thing. Walking in the morning, connecting with the world. I cannot advocate this enough. Also I have wanted those leggings so much! I may need to pull the trigger.
ReplyDeleteWell it’s 70 here in Michigan today and sunny. Can we get some shoe info. did i miss it somehow?
ReplyDeleteI made friends with a chipmunk during the summer so I can’t agree more with this post.
Ah, sorry! They’re ON Cloud: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/on-cloud-running-shoe-women/5139767?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FBrands%2FOn&color=lilac%2F%20black
DeleteFully agree with walking/exercise in the morning AND outdoors. The other thing helping me is little walk breaks during the day (if I can get away). It's about 17 minutes around the one long block and it's just right for a walk break. I'm in Michigan too, and when it's 70 AND sunny, you get your butt outside.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered the Rainier tights for the days when it's not 70 and sunny. There will be plenty.
I need to do that, especially on the sunny days.
DeleteI walk my dogs every morning and (now) early evening. I don't have a choice as they need exercise and that is a very good thing!! I look forward to your posts and they are a key part of my pandemic/work from home survival!!!
