Review: Think Royln Bum Bag/Crossbody Bag

Okay, so I am not really an early adopter of trends (that would be Marianne) but I also firmly believe that if you don't try out new styles and shapes you'll end up at 49 with the same hairstyle you had in high school. Ha, but really, the way to keep your style fresh is to at least try new things even if you aren't sure they're for you. With that in mind:

This is the Think Royln Bum Bag/Crossbody Bag in black noir and it comes with two straps - a shorter one to be worn as a belt bag (I hate "bum bag" and don't even with fanny pack. No.) and a longer adjustable strap for everything else. It's got two zipper pockets and an outside slip pocket for my phone.

I am surprised by how much I like wearing it like this - it's perfect when you need to be hands-free and keep your shit secure. Here's a better look:

It's small but will hold my essentials - phone, keys, sunglasses, small wallet, and lip balm (okay, balms. I have, like, eight of them in my current bag.) I also really like how it looks as a regular crossbody bag:

Now, I know what you're wondering. Will she strap this bag around her midsection like a Thing We Just Determined Shall Not Be Named? She will:

This is how it looks with the short strap which is surprisingly short. I have it adjusted all the way out and it just fits. Not very size-inclusive at all. Luckily, the longer strap is super adjustable and it works for belt bag purposes too. Here I'm using the longer strap and have it adjusted so it sits more on my hips:

Overall, I'm delighted with this little bag and think it'll work for all manner of travel, sporty endeavors, trips to the farmer's market and thrifting expeditions. I also love that it comes in a bunch of colors and patterns. (More here.) For the rest of my outfit, I'm wearing my Madewell Cali Demi Boot jeans similar to these and silver Birkenstock Arizonas. My tee is ancient Gap Fit but this one at Athleta is a nice upgrade! My necklaces are by Three Flames Silverworks and My Precious Studio

That's it! Let me know what you think!

  1. I, too, just dipped my toe into belt-bag-worn-crossbody territory! I got a sporty-looking one from Lululemon and have also been surprised how much I love wearing it in that close to the body fit. (Should we just call it a boob-bag instead of a bum-bag?? Let's be real). I love it for running errands and around town, it's even more comfortable than a regular crossbody because there's no banging against your hip as you walk. I love the strap on yours, really cute!

  3. And it's puffy - another trend! I really like the way this looks on you. It lays (lies?) nice and flat. I have admired the silver version for a while, but I have two small summer crossbodies, so I don't think another one is in my future.

    1. I waffled between the black and the silver, but the strap on the black one won me over.

  4. My favorite variation is long strap worn on your hips. I do like a belt bag in summer!
