Stuff I Want: Fall Beauty.

I feel like I always have a running mental list of clothes/shoes/bags/beauty items that I want to purchase and sometimes I make an actual list but usually I just write a blog post about it. I recently went through all my makeup and skincare and threw away a LOT of old stuff so now I have room for new stuff for fall! Here's what's on my list:

Did you just say, oooh? Because that was my reaction when I saw this double-sided cream eyeshadow stick which is part of the Bobbi Brown + Ulla Johnson collection. I want it, badly. Yes, I know I'm a sucker but I don't care - this collection is so pretty and who doesn't want some pretty in their makeup bag?

I also want this water bronzer stick that Marianne told me about. She has it in Amber and when she wears it she looks just the right amount of glowy and sun-kissed. Me too! Me too! And the best part? It's only $10!

Ever since we both bought the June's candle Marianne and I have been obsessed with Boy Smells candles. This little votive set of wood-based scents seems like it would be perfect for fall, right?

Back in August my face exploded - I get these weird allergic reactions where my face is red and swollen and blistered for a full week. It's really great. When this happens I'm extremely careful about what I put on my face and one of the only things that truly seemed to help was this soothing Skinceuticals serum. I had a deluxe sample and used it daily until it was gone. Now I'm left with a tiny empty vial and want to spend all my money on more fancy green serum. Wahhh.

I got a mini of this gloss-balm hybrid in a neutral color (rosewood, I think?) and I absolutely love it. It's really pretty and definitely feels like a balm - it's not sticky at all. Now I want it in a good fall color - like this burgundy shade. This is lipstick for me now, I guess.

Finally, I got a sample of this in a color that perfectly matches my skin and even though it smells... interesting it looks amazing on - such a nice glow! And the coverage is about what I'm looking for. I will probably buy this. I mean, I will probably buy most of what's on this list (for blog science!) but this one is at the top of my list.

  1. That is a fabulous curated list for Fall. I only have the Ilia serum skin tint. Cannot say enough good things about it. The glow is real, although it's a little "gloopy" or thick when applying. Once it sinks in, it is perfection. Do it! (for blog science)

  2. I follow a lady on IG who randomly posted about her Perioral dermatitis and hundreds of people responded raving about that SkinCeuticals gel. If it works at making your skin happy then it must be worth the investment, right?! I am avoiding Boy Smells so I don't get sucked in...But I may seek them out soon.

  3. I love Ilia. The skin serum is amazing. I also have a cheek stick that I love. Combo skin serum, cheek stick, a little mascara and boy brow, and it looks like I'm a real person on video calls!

  4. Okay, so everyone who likes the Ilia serum: how did you get the right color? The choices on the website are kinda daunting

    1. I went to Sephora and got color-matched.

    2. Well shoot, that is a very straight forward way to do it! Thank you!

    3. Sure thing! It's the only way for me - I am terrible at trying to pick the right color online, though I do believe there is a shade-matching function on the Ilia website.

  5. Another voice in the Ilia chorus saying Buy Buy Buy! I got it in spring and loved it all summer, wore it daily. I'm expecting fall/winter is where it might be the best though, because it's so hydrating and my dry skin loves it.

  6. Ooh I think I will try that corrective gel. I seem to have developed something like rosacea since my second was born and the reviews said it’s great for that. Thanks for the tip!!

  7. Apparently I am not the only one having random allergic reactions on my face. Three times in one month my eyelids and lips have swelled up. I paired down my skincare but finally saw a doctor who is pretty sure I have a food allergy so going to for allergy testing this week. I thought originally it was from trying a retinol but I cut that out over a month ago now. Another friend of a friend apparently had similar issues and found out she had new food allergies as well.

    1. So, when this started happening to me my dermatologist at the time (quite flippantly) declared that I had rosacea. I never quite believed that because it always felt like an allergic reaction - swollen, red skin that itched and sometimes I'd get tiny blisters and a rash on my neck and chest. My new dermatologist immediately said, "definitely not rosacea, that's an allergic reaction." I don't *think* mine is a food allergy (my eyes and lips aren't swollen) but allergy testing is SO expensive and not covered by my insurance, so it might be a while before I find out!
